about last night...

As regular readers know, I still watch videos. When Amy and I were watching an old video a few months back, ('Heathers' maybe?) there was an advert for a film called 'About last night...' and we were totally hooked, we really wanted to see that bad boy. In Makro on a fun times shopping trip yesterday I found it in a three-pack of DVDs along with 'The Breakfast Club' and 'St. Elmo's Fire' (got the theme song in your head now? Good) all for just £5, done deal. First we watched 'St. Elmo's Fire'. It was pretty insane in places with some great outfits, but I actually found it quite moving in the end because I could identify with where some of the characters were in their lives.

Being a fairly recent graduate in my early twenties it is really hard to get your life off of the ground and straddle that thing between being young at heart and wanting to party and fuck all the time and whatever; and being a settled, ambitious, serious grown up with a job, a life and a plan. Those moments of sheer despair when you realise you have no idea who you are anymore, or what you want and where you're going are all too familiar to me. Ahh, whatever, here are some pictures of Rob Lowe in pre-Nineties, 'Praline and Dick' era loveliness, when saxophones were apparently as rad as guitars :

(We loved the bat vest, one dangly earring and slight mullet look , well played)

Amy and I then watched 'About last night...' That was pretty intense at times but obviously well written (based on a play, which I felt they kept quite intact as it ran like a play in places) and it was massivley heartbreaking as it handled the topic of cohabiation and trying to live together and still stay a guarded individual. It has Rob Lowe and Demi Moore in and she is just stunning and I love her hair and jumpers in the film even though I sort of hate her in the real world for her slutty film roles and surgery case ways. I don't follow her and Ashton Kutcher on Twitter because if I want to know about Hybrid cars, saving the planet and general smugness I will research it myself, thanks. I couldn't find any good pictures of them from this film unless you like Demi's nipples and Rob Lowe's tighty whitey pants.

In summary; both good films, eerily relevant to my life at the moment (sort of thematically speaking, don't get sarccy now), great 80s cheese moments, shagging, great 80s clothing moments to ridicule and applaud. Just watch them if you haven't already.
