This weekend was Sonisphere festival, which will have it's own dedicated posts but for now, slightly on topic, the Sonsisphere wristbands have a promotional code on them to use on the Hot Topic website. Now Hot Topic was something we (the Cox family) discovered on holiday in Florida about 8 years ago. As a bit of a greeb/mini mosher/whichever term you choose it was amazing that they had these huge chain shops which catered to the rock contingent; in Reading you either had to go to teeny tiny Hard Edge or Rock-a-round, or make the trip to Camden. Hot Topic had walls of band t-shirts, belt buckles, studded wrist cuffs, stripey socks, novelty laces; I spent a sizeable amount of my holiday allowance in there. Back in Blighty I used to browse online and yearn to live in a world where everyone dressed like that and was groovy to that beat.
Years later and the rock and roll elements of my style have evolved and matured a bit (I still love a good skull print and nearly bought one of those goth cuffs at Sonisphere cos it as only £3...) but curiosity sent me to their website again (which now has a European counterpart). Not much has changed and I love that it still caters to those rock fans who don't care about being 'fashionable', rock and roll is so fashionable and mainstream now, everyone's a fecking goff come winter.
I did like a few things on the site, here's my pick:
They also have a cool Aerosmith t-shirt I'd not seen before, for their album Pump, only £11.99
