St John, be cool, tell the people they follow you

I have just stumbled on this excellent website of old A&R guy John Kalodner, who I have heard about from reading Steven Tyler's autobiography. He has a massive collection of old photographs, including personal and candid pictures of bands he worked with. It really is a great rescource for rock 'n' roll fashion, and its fascinating, and you will lose hours on here. And JK looks like a wizard, which is only a good thing. Click on Tyler and Kramer's cheeky pizza eating faces to link to the website.

steven, you are not a well individual

Tony Parsons wrote a good article for GQ about male friendships like these. This could also be me and my sister.

my american idol

I know this is not a new trend, nothing ever is. I was first turned on to it a few years ago when the Cox household were having a heavy Miami Ink phase and Kat Von D wore feathers in her hair and looked far out in a happening kind of way.

Then last year I realised the ultimate style plate Steven Tyler wears them. It was something I wanted to do but it obvs works better on long hair, which I don't posses the ability to grow. This year I've grown my straggly ends down a bit and thought, fuck it, could give it a whirl. Or in the spirit of Steven Tyler's American Idol censorship, BLEEP it, could give it a whirl.

Incidetally, this shirt is also brilliant and reminds me of the vest he wears at the end of Wayne's World 2. Excellent.

So I was in Toppers, source of my other feathery finds and I found this:

The band is almost the same colour as my hair and it sort of worked in the heat of the moment so I bought it. Unfortunately my hair has the thickness of brown smoke so I can't actually wear it without my ears poking out like a gelfling. I tried to wear it out last night, in which case it could have looked like this:

But I think instead I'm ging to take it off the band and attach the feather chain to a kirby grip as it will be easier to wear this way. Want the duck feather one now too, prettyyyy.

I also want to share the top I wore last night. It is not flattering on me but I couldn't bear to not have it as from the front it is a normal vest but the back....

Some sort of netty, skull thing is going on.

young lust

So thanks to my friend Elle alerting me to the fact that, ironically, while waiting for Steven Tyler's autobiography to come out this month I actually had a year to wait (I hope the text is big and the sentences simple after that observational balls up...) I gave up and bought a Steven Tyler biography that was only £2; it might be full of lies but I thought it might give me a good grounding in Aerosmith history. As always, I was very interested in reading about the women of Aerosmith because aside from Bebe Buell I didn't have much knowledge. Of course that then leads to a google search and looky what I found, lovingly scanned in on the brilliant (Diet) Coke and Sympathy blog. This is the beautiful Joe Perry with his not quite as beautiful first wife Elyssa. Leith has a treasure trove of old rock legends and their ladies, including the group shot below. Well worth a look. Coming soon, Cyrinda Foxe.

music sounds better with you

I have now booked both Sonisphere festival tickets and Download festival tickets. I am poor but happy. I am going to both with this girl, here we are at various festivals over the years

It's going to be like Pugwall's Summer; I am affectionately calling it Greebfest 2010. If you grungers are going too, hit me up. We usually accompany the boyfriend's and I have probably become too accustomed to a bit of guest camping action and free Jager action but this year sisters are going back to their roots and doing it for themselves

should I keep these cheap boots?

I finally made it in to Reading to return the shirts I bought the bf for Christmas and walked away with two pairs of boots. WHY can I only buy footwear in grous of two or three, not just a pair at a time? Added to the boots I got from Camden on Sunday that is three pairs this week. Despair. However, I need help deciding if I should keep these. Pair number one:

Pros: Have wanted boots like these since 2008 when I worked on Kurt Geiger and mega expensive mega lush ones came in. They have a high platform heel which makes them comfy. They give me the required height to wear these Alice Cooper slashed leggings which my legs may or may not be too porky for. They were only £12.50

Cons: Have wanted boots like this since 2008 = not hot anymore! I may break my neck in them. They are pleather, perhaps a bit too cheap looking?

Pair number 2:

Sure they're pretty hideous but they don't look that bad in real life, were only £11 and sometimes you need cheap boots so that you don't destroy your precious expensive boots. And for good measure, here are the Camden boots, £15:
