My lovely friend Sammi stopped by with a belated birthday present for me -what a sweetie! I love the little details on this Tatty Devine sugar skull pendant, especially the little stilettos. As you may have noticed, I love sugar skulls and am always happy to have a unique one to add to the collection. I have wanted to get one tattooed since 2007 but as I want the design to be just right I haven't quite got there. Since then they have become very fashionable, which is a bit annoying, but doesn't detract from the fact that I love their symbolism, but also the aesthetic of them; they're both morbid and goth, while at the same time being feminine and alive with colour. Also for my birthday, Elle got me an amazing book on Day of the Dead by Antoni Cadafalch and Dr Alderete. It's full of beautiful images that should be good inspiration on designing a tattoo. I need to get a move on this! Leopard print playsuit was in the Monkii sale.

hi Wayne
I've been loving this sleeveless leopard print shirt again. It was £4 from the Cancer Research charity shop in Reading a few years back. I like that the texture is quite rough and it looks kind of grungey; its quite baggy and it looks great with ripped black jeans but I've always really wanted to wear it with cycle shorts like I'm in a late '80s hair metal band.
I saw some similar style shirts in River Island today (pictured below). Of course you could probably do this yourself by hacking the arms off of a cheap check shirt from a charity shop...
*turns out I just accidentally sent this brooch through a wash cycle but it came out unscathed, phew!

bolo job

=The style inspirations for this look:

It is a bit weird but its my favourite outfit at the moment, I feel comfortable and confident in it. The basic outfit is all just cheap H&M. I like how the hat (from the Next sale, swish) picks up on the colour in the espadrilles (Kurt Geiger sale, double swish) but the 'key piece' that makes this look current is the little bolo tie and that was of course from... THE SUE RYDER CHARITY SHOP I USED TO WORK IN! I've had it for a couple of years but have only just figured out how to wear it in a way that works for me. I love when you buy something because you like it but have no idea what you will wear it with so you squirrel it away and then years later it is your new favourite thing! I have another 'western' bolo tie bought at the same time which I will blog at some point. I basically love Americana/western/cowboy stuff, I have loooadsss of it (I once got yee-ha'd on the way to work. Twice. By two separate people), I love the kitsch/quirkiness of it. This is a floppy hat rahter than a steston so its thematically confused, but that's probably a good thing.

gonna hunt you like an animal

Yesterday I went on a charity shopping spree in Worcester Park, Surrey.
I got lots of things and spent far too much money, as usual I'm going to blog things as and when I wear them. Today I wore this leopard print skirt that I got for £4.50. Its a stretchy material with a slit up it so its easy to wear. Unfortunately my lady saddle bags (that you can see in the picture, soz) ruin the lines of long skirts on me. I've knotted the top of to show off the skirt in these photos, but I actually have to wear something quite long to cover up the horror at the top. Or get some seriously good spanx pants.

brown and black and birthdayed all over
Saturday night I managed to have yet another faux birthday, but closer to my actual birthday and still awesome. My actual birthday was kind of lame in the day and then better in the evening, but leading up to it I have been completely spoiled with love and generous gifts, which I will blog when appropriate, as I am basically too lazy to document it all arbitrarily. I don't like how I looked on the night as such, the tranny eyelashes were a huge mistake (again, I think its time to send them to early retirement) and my outfit would have looked nice on a wee waif but on me was just unflattering. However, I like to use this blog to record my charity shop and second hand finds, and this outfit contained a few doozies. I didn't have the foresight (or time) to photograph it so I have robbed these pics from Elle to demonstrate. And Simone had backcombed my hair something fantastic...
A classic picture demonstrating how ridiculous Furr and I look together. I've really helped the situation with the frou-grab. The suede jacket was a tenner from my (ex) charity shop, its ginuwine Pioneer Wear, made in the U.S of A, baby. I love its pronounced shoulders. The skirt is vintage Topshop - not from the vintage section in Topshop, actual vintage Topshop. TopshopTopshopTopshopTopshop. I got it from a charity shop in Worcester Park a couple of years ago for a fiver and it was - what is very fashionable now but incomprehensible to me then - midi length, so I had it taken up, although it is still just above the knee, not mini. Wish I had left it alone now but how could I have known that a fashion that accentuates a bulky calf would be something I would want to wear? The print is all kinds of rad animal prints and animals. You can just see my new Little Wing earring, a gift from Elle which has skull beads on the top.
In the other ear I had a loooong feather earring from Topshop (which pre-dates Little Wing so is allowed...) and I wore a silky nightie from Asda as a top. Oooo look at all my hair. Elle also gave me a necklace and this Dia de los muertos skull bead bag charm. I am mad sick in love with it:

.... yes this was the bag I took out on Saturday, I have some perverse matching problem. Incidentally, the bag was £2.50 from the second hand clothes shop that is opposite, and rival to, my ex charity shop.
Next up will be my sissys 21st birthday and I can't wait to see her!

slags night out
It was my twenty-faux birthday night out on Saturday, GOOD TIMES. Key members of team slag/girls gone wild were sadly missed but I love my ladies that did make it. I wore (because thats all slags really care about, after penises) a charity shopped pink and white leopard print vest, charity shopped belt and a white leather skirt I have hacked off from the East End Thrift store on 'have a beer, try not to spill it on all the mountains of clothes, and shove as much as you can in a bag for a tenner' night. Its probably got a sexier name than that really, but thats the jist. Obvs in an outfit that trashy 80s and white, one had to top up the tan and the tran. I wonder what these clothes got up to before they were mine. I also cheekily asked for my birthday present from Elle and her Little Wing range early so that I could complete my all-white-on-the-night outfit. THANKS BABE. I guess the jurys out on whether it was a bit too much tack, but its nice to try something new. Please note Georgie's Rubix cube bag, I have got to hand it to the girl, she is probably the only person I know who can get away with a novelty bag.

It made my night that Nomie Mac stayed out and came dancing
My lovely Dia de los muertos 'Lucy' earring on the left. I love it so much. On the right, my tailor made Little Wing earring

snow way out
Tuesday, woke up with raging headache, thought I was going to town but the boyfriend's car was having trouble and we basically couldn't be effed. I had even battled with my leopard print beret and everything. It was a Christmas present from the bf and I love it but I struggle with accessories sometimes, I get a bit of the fear.

Cringe face but this quick snapshot gives you an idea. I like the simple denim and leopard print combo.
That night it snowed and the bf was stuck at my house until this morning. Cue many jokes about the film 'Misery', James Caan, sledge hammers etc. I don't think he had a brutally bad time though, I mean we had good food and Mario Kart and I let him wear my Alice Cooper t-shirt. Here's a selection from the first lot of snow pictures.

90s tv on vhs
As many of my friends are no doubt bored to hear me quip, I am a bit 'behind the times'. All this really means is: I don't have an ipod, I do have a vhs player. This weekend I took a trip down memory lane and watched Soldier, Soldier on vhs as I did my ironing. Aside from being wicked on it's own merits, there was some great early 1990s jumper wearing to be seen. The slutty bit of northern rough character Donna also had an exceptional leopard print coat. I could not find a picture if this. As I was winding down for bed I watched a couple of episodes of This Life (on vhs, of course). The annoying Scottish bitch Anna was also wearing an impressive leopard print coat. I do have a wee pic of this:
(Yes that is Jack Davenport sporting a disturbing haircut)
Anyway, this is clearly a sign that I must find more use for my little leopard jacket, even if wearing it makes me feel like a bit of a big pimp.
In other news, it is exactly a month until my free 5-year young person's railcard runs out :'(
Serious cat
