purple laze

World, meet my hangover dress. I cracked this out after my birthday, and I cracked it out again after my sister's birthday when I was disgustingly hungover (hence the glasses and crappy photography). I do think the glases add to the 60s/90s look though. I'm sure you can guess its from a thrift store fill-a-bag. It's enormous but has ties to pull it in at the back - when I first bought it and washed it it was hanging up drying in the flat and my housemates were very puzzled by this huge, seemingly square tie-dye table cloth type thing! I thought I might cut it off to t-shirt or min-dress length but then you lose some of the fantasic pattern, so I wear it with black high heeled leaher sandals so its more flattering. I vow to get better pictures than these as they don't do it justice. It looks rad with my black leather biker jacket, or my hair up in a bun with dangly earrings.

bad medicine

What can I say, its an enormous tie dye t-shirt, with two hideous transfers of Bon Jovi on it. From a charity shop in Weymouth. Shit blog photography.

you and you alone bring out the gypsy in me

Last weekend I joined Furr who was tour managing for the brilliant Jess Hall Band on their tour with Newton Faulkner. This is what it has come to if I want to see my boyfriend.

Acoustic/folk is not really my bag but everyone was lovely and I actually really enjoyed Newton's set; he has such an easy, relaxed sense of humour and is clearly brilliant at what he does.

As the two people who read this blog will know, I do like a bit of Carrie Bradshaw dressing, that is to say themeing my outfit with the occasion. It's not like I dress disingenuously, I just hand pick from my own clothes something that feels right.

I thought this would be a good occasion to crack out the kimono top I got in the Peacocks closing down sale for £7. It was a risky online purchase but I think it has worked out well. I like the fact that it is not black, and the antique roses on it make it look a bit rock n roll. It is really comfy and easy to wear, but the sleeves add a bit of drama. I wore it with jeans, my dad's oversized cardie, tie dye scarf, tan brouge ankle boots and tan leather satchel. The leather satchel was from my old Sue Ryder shop, so I've had it for years and its a complete staple. The lipstick is Benefit's 'No Competition', a berry shade. The second day of the tour I was back in black with ripped jeans, but I enjoyed my folk-y moment while it lasted. I know this post makes me look like a total dick. Suck it.

tie dye for

I got this tie dye scarf from one of the East End Thrift Store's 'throw loads in a bag for £10/£20' events. I think they had their last ever one a couple of weeks ago, which is probably a good thing because I come away with a load of random shit. This scarf was quite a good grab though. I love the colours, its very 'Lords of Dogtown', and quite '90s too, which is all good with me. Despite the fact that on this night I wore it with a crop top and formal joggers. I stole these pictures from Elle because I forgot my camera - I left the house holding my shoes and with all of the labels still attached to my clothes, my mum cut them out for me at the bus stop with a smuggled pair of scissors - so I wasn't very prepared. In hindsight I don't know how I feel about me in a crop top but as I said, I've cut the labels off now...
